Our Plans

We live in a DIY culture, where we constantly dote on each other for being “self-made” and tell each other the modern saying, “You got this.” But is it really all on our shoulders? How does this impact our relationship with God, when we take him out of the equation altogether? All of us to some extent see ourselves this way and tend to like the control that it makes us feel we have over our own lives, circumstances, and outcomes. But the reality is that our way—apart from God—is not the best way and never will be. The best way belongs to God, therefore the calling is not to obsess over our own plans with rigid expectations and unsettled anxiety around them not coming to fruition, but rather replacing this with prayer and discernment for what God’s ways are. God’s got this! This is why community of the church is crucial, small groups, friendships formed in Christ… so that we don’t fall into making ourselves the captain of our own ships and lose focus that God’s rightful place is on the throne.
