Baby Moses

Moses is one of the most important figures in the Bible, so it is important that we learn about his background and his relationship with God. Moses is a Hebrew by birth; an Israelite (specifically a Levite). At the time of his birth, there was a decree that all the Hebrew sons should be killed, which is why his mother gave him up by floating him down the Nile… hoping he would have a chance to escape this edict. Of all people to find him, the daughter of the most powerful ruler in the land (Pharoah) adopted baby Moses and raised him as her own son. She is the one who gave him his name: Moses.
God will use those he calls and those who are willing. Throughout the book of Exodus, we will see both readiness and hesitancy coexist in Moses life of following God. The story of Moses highlights the themes of status, success, true identity, and need for grace.
