Who we are

Here, you will find a group of people united in Christ.

You will find pastors and a congregation confident in the Word of God, who interpret the Scriptures through reason, experience, and tradition, and seek to apply them to a life of following Jesus.

The modern world can be challenging and often seems designed to move us away from Christ, but we believe when we come together as a community united by an earnest desire to live more like Jesus, we can create change. In seeking Christ together, there is joy – a tangible expression of the work of the Holy Spirit in our community. And we believe that joy foretells of the day we will eat and drink at His table in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we invite you to discover the truly transformative role faith can play. We welcome you to a community ready to embrace a faith in Christ that is real, practical, and life-changing.

GOD’S LOVE

Our Convictions

The God we serve is the creator of everything we see and don’t see, sustaining the universe as he works for the redemption of the entire world.

Our God is Triune – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – and God’s defining characteristic is love, as shown most clearly by Jesus’ willingness to die for us on the cross so that we might live with God and one another forever.

We are centered in Christ and grounded in the Bible, the Word of God, holy and inspired. We interpret the Scriptures through reason, experience and tradition and seek to apply them to the life of following Jesus.

The eternal life God offers begins here and now, which is why a nominal faith is simply unacceptable.

God desires for us to be made new as we are formed into the likeness of Jesus, and in this renewed relationship we will experience abundant life as we participate in God’s transformation of the world.

HISTORY OF ST. ANDREW

The Story

St. Andrew Methodist Church was founded in 1986 as St. Andrew United Methodist Church by the late Rev. Robert Hasley, who served as its senior pastor for 36 years. St. Andrew began its formation with an organizational meeting at Shepton High School and subsequent meetings in homes. The church, named for the disciple Andrew who was the first evangelist, introducing Peter to Jesus, held its first service at Shepton High School on September 8, 1986. Read today about the complete history of St. Andrew.

Our Lay Leadership

Our church has a wonderful group of lay leaders who serve the church. We have a formal process to rotate these committees each year and ensure they are a representative voice of our church community to guide the church and provide an accountability layer for all finances. For a list of these committees and their members this year, please see below.
