History of The Storehouse

How it Started.
The Storehouse of Collin County began 14 years ago as the vision of Sharon Hasley (wife of St. Andrew Methodist Church’s late senior and founding pastor, Robert Hasley) as she witnessed the effects of severe poverty in a local grocery store. With a heart to make a difference, she happened into a providential conversation with the CEO of North Texas Food Bank who shared a desire to address food insecurity in Collin County through distribution of food via houses of worship.
With the visionary leadership of Sharon and the organizational backing of St. Andrew Methodist, Common Unity – a separate 501c3 charity – was founded with one program: the Seven Loaves Food Pantry. In September 2009, Seven Loaves served a single family on opening day. It was from these humble beginnings that the mission to feed, clothe, and care as neighbors in one community began.

The Academy
In 2022, with a vision fueled by a desire to offer transformative resources for our neighbors, a fourth program – The Academy – was developed to offer language, life and job skills to neighbors.

Mission of The Storehouse
Today, these four core programs – Seven Loaves, Joseph’s Coat, Project Hope and The Academy – comprise The Storehouse of Collin County with a day-in, day-out mission to feed, clothe and care for our neighbors as one community.
