LEARN | SCOTT ENGLE’S TUESDAY BIBLE STUDY | Every Tuesday | 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. | Piro Hall

You’re invited to join Dr. Scott Engle in a new study through the Book of Kings each Tuesday. You’re welcome to bring lunch or go out for a bite with friends after class. You’ll discover great insight into Israel’s history and God’s redemptive plan for all people. Don’t miss it!

 

Fall Dinner Groups | It’s Time to Dine!

New Dinner Groups are launching this fall and we don’t want you to miss the opportunity to discover new community and enjoy delicious meals together. Dinner Groups are encouraged to gather for 2 meals (or more!) a season. At the end of the series, participants may either stay together and continue to meet or they may sign up for the Spring series when new groups will form. Dinner Groups are designed to be a jump in/jump out opportunity for church members to enjoy as their schedules allow. 
Registration Opens: August 10th and runs through August 28th. 
Captains will be assigned the week of September 8th and groups are encouraged to gather from September 15th to November 15th.. Register here.

The Second Act has 15 spots reserved for the AM prep sessions from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on September 22 for Seven Loaves. The Academy has 10 volunteer teaching assistant slots reserved on September 27 to support ESL Teachers in the ESL classes. Times are 7:30am to 12pm.  Please register by Sept 7 as the Storehouse will release open spots to the general public. Register HERE.

Holly Stevens is back by popular demand! In January, she captivated us with the stories of Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel. Now, she returns for Part 2 of her fascinating exploration of one of the greatest artists of all time. Whether you joined us for the first talk or not, you’re welcome! This story stands on its own and offers new insights into Michelangelo’s life, art and legacy – all delivered with Holly’s signature energy and expertise.

Walking With Ruth is a group for widows whose focus is to provide care and comfort while equipping and empowering women to thrive and grow as they navigate this new stage of life. Falling for Mahjong | Oct 1 | Piro Hall and Patio | 5:30 to 8:30pm 

Ladies – mark your calendars for a fun evening full of dots, cracks, bams & MAHJONG. This night will be for all skill levels. We will have limited seats open for a Mahjong 101 lesson with seasoned instructors, as well as open play tables for those comfortable playing without instruction. So, gather up your Mahjong group and register now or send this to a friend who has been looking to learn Mahjong. Each person attending MUST register individually. Join us for an inside look at how a worship service at St. Andrew comes together—from initial planning to the Sunday morning experience. In this special Second Act presentation, Philip Haworth, Director of Traditional Worship and Music Associate, will walk us through the behind-the-scenes process, exploring the spiritual, musical, and logistical elements that shape our traditional worship each week.  Celebrate the season with sweetness and style at Chocolate & Cheer, a hands-on holiday truffle-making experience hosted by Under Chef Zach’s expert guidance, you’ll learn the art of crafting rich, decadent chocolate truffles from scratch. Register HERE.

Join The Second Act on a fun-filled overnight trip to Houston!

Itinerary:

  • First stop is a delicious lunch buffet in Fairfield at Sam’s Original Restaurant, established in 1953. (Don’t miss the homemade pie for dessert!)
  • Next stop is Blue Bell Creameries Headquarters in Brenham since 1930 where you can learn about Blue Bell’s history in the Visitor Center, shop in the Country Store, and buy a scoop of ice cream in the Ice Cream Parlor.
  • Once in Houston, Lucille’s Hideaway, upstairs in a cozy, vintage house – the home of Lucille’s Restaurant, is where you will enjoy dinner with a modern take on Southern classics by a classically train chef.
  • Next, we’re off to see Galaxy Lights, a space-themed holiday light show that defies gravity, before heading to the hotel for check-in and a fellowship time with homemade cookies provided by Julie Anderson.
  • Saturday morning we’ll head to the Johnson Space Center where you will discover over 400 space artifacts, immersive exhibits and captivating experiences that celebrate America’s human space-flight program, including a NASA Tram Tour to Apollo Mission Control. Enjoy a no-host lunch in the “Food Lab” at the Space Center.
  • Last stop in Houston is the Burke Baker Planetarium where you will be mesmerized sitting in a darkened planetarium, gazing at the domed ceiling and watching the spectacle unfold above you.
  • Traveling home on I-45 wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Buc-ees in Madisonville. Back on board you’ll be given a light snack to enjoy on the final leg home.
